Symptom

Broken wires, diameter reduced

Likely cause

End of rope life, or sheave groove too small (broken wires in two lines).

Check

Count broken wires; measure diameter. 10 % loss of nominal diameter is a discard point.

Fix

Replace the rope (both ropes on double skips); correct the sheave.
